A harsh taskmistress.

Okay, so I’ve taken action and have commissioned my life coach, Leonie, to hold me accountable for what I eat every day. I’m paying her monthly to get multiple emails from me each day and maybe answer them once a day with either encouragement or admonitions. I’ve known I needed this for a while. IContinue reading “A harsh taskmistress.”

Wow. Just, wow.

I’ve been spaced out and completely unfocused lately. I’m not sure why, but maybe my body’s adjusting to the dieting. I’ve stuck with the no-flour diet without relapse since whenever it was that I started it. (A few weeks ago? I have no sense of time.) It’s not hard. There are ample snack foods, butContinue reading “Wow. Just, wow.”

Slippery like ice!

It’s the end of day four for me of not eating processed sugar or flour. It’s been going great. Today, I lost interest in eating. I normally love to eat, and I miss it, but when you remove processed sugar and flour from what I’m allowed to eat, I’m bored with it. This is hugeContinue reading “Slippery like ice!”

Intergenerational?

So, it occurred to me that I’m not losing weight despite my iffing (intermittent fasting). And it’s not that my body’s being resistant, although it might be. It’s more like this: when I can eat (after 4:00 PM each day), I eat junk foods. Sometimes I even find myself eating junk food for no discernibleContinue reading “Intergenerational?”

Updates from Meg world!

Hi, everyone!! Here’s the latest. It’s about 2:00 PM here on a gorgeous fall day that feels like summertime. How odd! It’s November, for crying out loud. But I’ve been using the nice weather to do some exterior painting and scraping for my dad. I’ve done the area around the windows, but now I’m strugglingContinue reading “Updates from Meg world!”

What lies beneath.

DEAR ABBY: I’ve been dating “Karl” for five years. We live separately. I thought our relationship was pretty solid until a recent health scare. A few days ago, I had a severe allergic reaction to something I ate at dinner. When I realized how serious it was, I immediately rushed to the ER. (I hadContinue reading “What lies beneath.”

The fasting’s going pretty well.

Hi guys! I thought I’d give an update on my efforts at fasting. First off, I weighed myself, and I weigh around 205. I think I managed to break just under 200 earlier this year, but then my diet went to heck. I suspect I’ve lost a few pounds off of whatever my weight jumpedContinue reading “The fasting’s going pretty well.”

There’s a rainbow at the end!

Oh, drudgery. My diet went off the rails today. I’ve been sticking to the fasting, which is great. I’ve become a master at going for 15 to 18 hours without eating. Hurrah. The problem–well, today, anyway–is that I decided I shouldn’t break the fast with junk food. Not that I’ve been doing that–yesterday I madeContinue reading “There’s a rainbow at the end!”

Why intermittent fasting works for me!

I was taking a nap before bed last night, and I felt very relaxed and dopey (you know, moreso than usual), and so I was doing some soul-searching, and I realized why I like intermittent fasting (IF) as much as I do, and why it’s actually working for me. For many years, I’ve had aContinue reading “Why intermittent fasting works for me!”

Going ridiculously well!

Intermittent fasting is going ridiculously well. I’m sort of stunned by it. The most useful thing I’ve learned involves why you can only drink water, plain tea, or plain coffee (although I don’t drink coffee). The reason is that if you drink anything flavored, like I said in a previous post, it triggers your insulinContinue reading “Going ridiculously well!”
