Why some mental illnesses are considered more severe than others!

I’ve been musing on why depression and anxiety are considered lesser-than mental illnesses, whereas schizophrenia and bipolar are considered hardcore mental illnesses. Everything exists on a continuum. What’s weird, though, is that with schizophrenia, you never hear about someone being “a little schizohprenic,” whether or not such a condition exists. (Who knows? I guess anythingContinue reading “Why some mental illnesses are considered more severe than others!”

Easy come, easy go!

Well, I’m going to the dentist tomorrow. I think it’s been too long, and I don’t want to have dental problems in Prague, even though my handy guidebook taught me how to know when your Prague dentist is yelling, “Wait, come back! I’m not done with your teeth!” which is probably good to know. HAContinue reading “Easy come, easy go!”

Meg makes faces for fun.

DEAR ABBY: I have always suffered from what I now know is social anxiety disorder. When I have to attend a large family function, I’m extremely nervous and miserable. As a result, sometimes I have had a sour expression on my face (although I didn’t realize it). At a gathering several years ago, I guessContinue reading “Meg makes faces for fun.”

Meg’s guide to sanity.

TRIGGER WARNING: PHYSICAL ABUSE WITH SEXUAL OVERTONES I’m sort of in a funk, but mostly I’m just bored. I’ve been reading my EMDR book, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have a lot of how-to stuff in it. Or if it does, it’s hidden somewhere in the middle. Mostly it just seems to be case studies andContinue reading “Meg’s guide to sanity.”

Wild drama all about!

I had a bit of a meltdown at the grocery store. Do you all remember that employee who I just hate? Like, starting last summer, she’d cordon off one of the U-Scan areas, but then she’d motion for us to walk in circles to reach the area, when it really would’ve been more sensible toContinue reading “Wild drama all about!”

Paranoia in the new world.

So, Mother wrote me what I hope is a good check, and I took it to the bank a few minutes ago. Each area where you could fill out the deposit/withdrawal paperwork had a thing of hand sanitizer. There were three or four more bottles of the stuff up at the teller counter. My problemContinue reading “Paranoia in the new world.”

Diagnoses upon diagnoses!

Dear Mesmerizing Meg: I’m embarrassed to say that I need to go over this on the internet with complete strangers, but I honestly don’t know what else to do. I recently just started getting help for severe mental health issues that I have had for my entire life. I’ve gone to therapy a few timesContinue reading “Diagnoses upon diagnoses!”
