I’ve been problem-solving! My bedroom is noisy and I can hear outside traffic all the freakin’ time. Motorcycles, loud car music from people waiting at the nearby red light, you name it. I was afraid I’d have to make storm windows for all the windows up here, which would’ve been costly and time-consuming, with no guarantee of success. For one thing, I vent my AC out a side window, and its tube is paper-thin. How would I keep sound from getting past it in the summer months?
My dad pointed out that I slept well after the water company removed the metal plate from our adjoining street. But then I quit sleeping well. I had no way to account for that. But somehow from talking to my dad, we realized that I slept well with the AC on. It offers “white noise”, which apparently really works to muffle outside sounds. So for the past two nights, I’ve slept with its fan function on. (It hasn’t been hot enough for AC.) Wow! Praise God, is all I can say.
I also ordered a new foam mattress on Amazon. My old mattress I’ve been using since 2012, and it’s seen better days. Prior to my using it, it was Granny Smith’s. The foam mattress that’s coming is very, very firm. I love firmness in a mattress! If it’s too firm, I’ll add a pillow topper, or something. It got great reviews and was under $200. Knowing me, I’ll probably report back on how much I like it, so stay tuned.
See, whenever I visit Sonya, I sleep like a log and feel sooo comfortable. She has a sofa-bed, so I’m essentially sleeping on really firm sofa cushions. The kind you can’t make a dent in. Love it!
I wonder if our preferences for mattress firmness say interesting and quirky things about our personalities! That would be fun to make stuff up about. Like, “You enjoy a cushy, relaxed mattress. You’re a real go-getter who enjoys making new friends and being sociable,” or whatever. HA HA! That would be a fun magazine quiz.
Things are going great with my life coach! I’ve talked myself down from getting junk food from the local drugstore just so I won’t have to admit to Leonie that I did it. If that’s not success, then I don’t know what is. Every day, she sends tips, like eating foods with low glycemic indexes, which is something I’m eager to look into. That sort of thing. Or motivational stuff like, remember to exercise! Or, eat bananas! (A great tip! I can’t handle their texture, but I don’t mind them in a fruit smoothie at all.)
Exercise might not happen today because the house is filthy and I need to take care of that. But I hope to get back to the treadmill soon. Maybe tonight. I hope everyone out there is doing well and having a great day! 🙂
